RC&D is a federal program that is delivered at the local level by independent, volunteer directed RC&D councils.  New Hampshire has two (2) RC&D councils; the North Country RC&D and the Southern NH RC&D.  This website serves both RC&D's in New Hampshire.

NH Farm Energy Initiative: Reducing Energy Consumption and Costs on NH Farms

In order to achieve energy efficiency and increase energy production opportunities among NH farms, the Southern NH Resource Conservation & Development Area Council, in partnership with North Country RC&D, the NH Coalition for Sustainable Agriculture, Merrimack County Conservation District and others, will provide outreach and education about farm energy issues.

The Farm Energy project is conducting workshops for farm owners and operators, identifying 25 farms for no-cost* full energy audits through a competitive application process, and training data collectors to assist with audits. The project, funded by a Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) grant from NH Public Utilities Commission, aims to reduce greenhouse gas outputs from the agricultural industry.

*There is a refundable $100 deposit, payable upon selection for audit.  The fee is fully reimbursable upon completion of the audit process. Farm Energy Audit Application

The Community Roadmap: A civic decision making tool for evaluating the viability of wood biomass district heating systems for New Hampshire communities

North Country RC&D announces the launch of a new project: The Community Roadmap: A civic decision making tool for evaluating the viability of wood biomass district heating systems for New Hampshire communities.

The project, which has received financial support from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) administered by the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission, has the goal of creating a decision making tool which will be useful to municipalities, and also subsets of communities such as commercial and residential housing developments. This tool will make it easy for communities interested in district heating for cost savings and environmental reasons to get started by providing information and technical assistance. Beginning November 18, 2009, North country RC&D will be soliciting proposals from qualified consultants to work with the Task Force to create the decision making tool.

Those interested in the project can access the RFP by following the link below.  For questions or more information  call Rick DeMark at the North Country RC&D at (603) 527-2093.

  • Coos County Economic Action Plan - Energy Technical Review Committee

North Country RC&D facilitated the development of an Energy Action Plan as part of the Coos County Economic Action Plan.  Energy, along with timber, the creative economy, and tourism are the components of the Coos County Economic Action Plan.

The Energy Technical Review Committee met four (4) times in January and February, 2008 to develop a set of action strategies that were adopted by the Coos County EAP Steering Committee on April 30th, 2008.

The links below summarize the work of the Energy TRC and the information presented to the Coos County Economic Action Plan Steering Committee.  For more detailed information on the Energy TRC as well as other components of the Coos County EAP visit the website of the North Country Council at www.nccouncil.org
